Analysis of Nonlinearity of the Korean Metal Percussion Instrument, Jing
Abstract
This paper introduces a nonlinearity of the Korean metallic percussion instrument called Jing. According to Fletcher's research, metal percussions shaped like quasispherical-cap shells show nonlinearity as pitch shift. Jing shows softening that pitch glides downward and this phenomenon appears clearly from harmonics only.
