A Study of Pragmatic Vagueness in Diplomatic Language from the Perspective of Adaptation Theory

Abstract

Pragmatic vagueness is a universal phenomenon in diplomatic language and the study of it is also of great importance. Based on linguistic adaptation theory, this paper will focus on case study to analyze the adaptation of pragmatic vagueness in diplomatic language in order to better understanding of vagueness in discourse types and shed some light on vague language learning and research and the development of communicative skills.
