Application of the Internet in Teaching Humanistic Knowledge in “Advanced Englishâ€
Abstract
Different from the specialized courses of general education, the core courses of humanistic education (classical reading and writing) has its own characteristics instead of specialized domain knowledge. In terms of the discussion of humanistic thoughts, classical reading can better reflect the characteristics of humanistic education than writing. This paper emphasizes the combination of language and culture in “Advanced Englishâ€, which effectively integrates the Internet and humanistic knowledge teaching to increase the background and cultural knowledge of English-speaking countries. With the help of the Internet, some humanistic knowledge could be available, and it benefits the teaching and learning of the course.
