Environmental Risk Assessment on Chemical Enterprises
Abstract
Environmental risk assessment must be taken into consideration when selecting industry site and planning land in order to reduce casualties, environmental pollution and economic losses. A chemical enterprise in Dalian was studied as an example in the paper. Risk identification and prediction were carried out. Three typical risk leakage accidents were selected and the hazard distance was calculated by using the Gaussian group diffusion model. The LC50, IDLH, and PACs (Protective Action Criteria) were used as the evaluation criteria to calculate the hazard distance value. By comparison, the PACs evaluation standard is more suitable for the risk assessment, and the hazard distance value is more accurate. It also showed that the main risk safety distance is about 0~2824 meters away from the risk source. Densely populated places, such as, residential areas, commercial centers, schools, hospitals, are not be erected in such region.
