Abstract

This paper studied methods of Electro-coagulation with periodically reversing and H2O2-Electro-coagulation with periodically reversing individual treating chloramphenicol pharmaceutical wastewater, the effect of H2O2 addition on generation of hydroxyl free radicals in the reaction process was investigated. Results indicated that chloramphenicol cannot be effectively removed from wastewater only by the method of electro-coagulation with periodically reversing. But the generation of hydroxyl free radical in the process of electro-coagulation with periodically reversing was dramatic when adding H2O2. The removal efficiency of COD can be increased to 30% by electro-coagulation with periodically reversing-H2O2 treating chloramphenicol pharmaceutical wastewater when the volume of H2O2 was 1 mL, with the reaction voltage of 8V, alternating period of 10 s, distance of plates of 0.6 cm and reaction time of 90 min.
