Abstract

MnO2/C composite nanotubes (MnO2/C-CNTs) have been prepared with carbon nanofibers from the electrospinning PAN fiber, which are soaked in potassium permanganate then annealed in a furnace. The morphology of the MnO2/C-CNTs and the manganese loading amount is tunable by adjusting the soaking time and the potassium permanganate solution concentration. The manganese state is studied by XRD and XPS. The MnO2/C-CNTs had an adsorption ability to lead ions. The maximum adsorption capacity approach is found to be 283mg/g,double higher than that of unannealed samples. The data at adsorption equilibrium are suited to the Langmuir model.
