Abstract

A tuned filter with transformer-type based on thyristor controlled is proposed to solve the detuning issue caused by the change of component parameters in traditional passive filter and the additional harmonic of thyristor controlled reactor (TCR) passive filter to the system. By analyzing the principle and structure of the traditional passive filter and the TCR filter, the reactor in the TCR filter is replaced by a transformer-type adjustable reactor to constitute a new-type filter, which can achieve the goal of equivalent impedance change by controlling the second side current in the transformer so as to compensate the parameters alteration. Finally, the investigations show that the proposed filter can perform better in the case of detuning, and effectively improves the shortcomings of the traditional passive filter easy to be affected by the change of parameters, and also, the additional harmonics are suppressed, effectively.
