Finite Element Analysis and Experiment of Wake-induced Vibration Piezoelectric Energy Harvesting

Abstract


This article set up a finite element simulation model to research the effects of wake-induced vibration on piezoelectric energy harvester. To find a place which the Karman vortex street of upstream large cylinder act on downstream small cylinder to producing the best performance. We carry out wake induced vibration (WIV) experiment by setting two tandem double cylinder. The results of experiment show that the vibration of small cylinders is controlled by the vortex shedding frequency of upstream large cylinder and there is a best distance which it can find out maximum output voltage and power between two cylinders. The results of experiment are in agreement with the finite element analysis.
