The Methods for Creating a Waterborne Saline-Based Hydrophobic Agent for Waterproofing Use
Abstract
The methods for creating a qualified waterborne silane-based hydrophobic agent for waterproofing use are described in detail in paper. A stable waterborne silane-based hydrophobic agent cannot be readily manufactured by the addition of any single emulsifier, whatever the ionic nature the emulsifier is. However, it may be prepared by adding anionic + nonionic compound emulsifiers. The hydrophobic agent with the optimum composition has lower surface tension (31 mN/m) and the contact angle of the mortar specimen impregnated with this agent is quite high (145. 17°), indicating that it is a quite promising hydrophobic agent.
