The Work Motivations of Employees in Social Enterprises: An Experience from China

Abstract


In recent years, social enterprises have blossomed in China while the relevant certification is still unclear. Social entrepreneurship has gained more and more attentions from the public and scholars. Using a famous social enterprise of Beijing as a case study, the research explores work motivations of employees. The results reveal that the employees of social enterprise have five types work motivations, the most important one is making contribution to the society. This article also shows the motivations changes happened to the workers, and reflect the reasons behind these motivations. The analysis enriches current research on employee work motivation of social enterprise and advancing an agenda for future research.
