Applications of Body Language in Theatrical Performance—Taking Practice in Campus Plays as Examples
Abstract
As drama is the art of action, action is the core factor for actors’ portrayal of their roles. On the stage, body language is a very essential way to showcase the roles that actors play as well as the lines delivered. This essay is to explain the distinctiveness of body language applied in drama performance from three perspectives: particularity of character images shown by body language; prescriptive scenario restraints on body language; realistic yet dramatic performances of body language. Besides, combining the practical campus plays, relevant issues will be stated with solutions to the body language performing issues of non-professional actors.
