Abstract

Fifth-order shear deformation theory is proposed to analyze the free vibration of functionally graded plates. The present theory satisfies the zero transverse shear stress boundary conditions on the upper and lower surface of plate. The governing differential equations based on present theory are derived. Natural frequencies of simply functionally graded square plates are obtained by an analytical method and compared with the results of available literatures to verify the validity and accuracy of present theory.
