Abstract

Today's companies encounter a number of risks that can affect the achievement of their goals. These goals might correspond to the most varied areas or activities as strategic initiatives, operations, processes or projects, and so on, which have an effect on their results and may impact directly or indirectly to stakeholders, the environment and society in general. Companies need, therefore, to establish an adequate process of risk management to permit to anticipate and manage possible adverse results and their consequences, in order to ensure their survival, prestige and financial stability. This paper introduces an approach for the selection of a risk management method based on international standards and considering the existing conflicting objectives. The evaluation of remote and control technology is developed through a case study in a sanitary company applying multicriteria analysis.
