Abstract

In order to investigate the influence of construction joint to shear strength in reinforced concrete beam, a group of model testing were completed and ten specimens were made. Influences of the concrete construction joint on the cracking load, ultimate load and crack development of the test beam and the reinforcement effect of three strengthening ways on the test beam are measured, by shear behaviors test of beam with or without construction joint and comparative test of beams reinforced with bent-up bar, dense stirrups and increasing longitudinal bar. Test results show that shear behaviors would be obviously weaken by construction joint near beam end, ultimate shear strength of beam reinforced by above three strengthening ways would be effectively improved. Test also shows that the cracking load of beams reinforced with bent-up bar and increasing longitudinal bar would be effectively improved. The experimental results are beneficial to the selection of the way of strengthen for construction joint of the beam.
