Parameter Optimization of Multi-machine PSS Using Improved ABC Algorithms

Abstract


For the parameter optimization of multi-machine Power System Stabilizer (PSS), a new method is proposed in this paper, which uses Improved Artificial Bee Colony (IABC) algorithm to coordinate the parameters of PSS. IABC aims to model the behavior of foragers of artificial bee colony more accurately and improve the performance of ABC algorithm in terms of local search ability. Simulation of IEEE four-machine two-area system verifies that, the PSS optimized by IABC has better performance than other algorithm in two typical modes.
