A Test Method of O-shaped Sealing Ring for Elastic Recovery
Abstract
Elastic recovery of O-shaped sealing ring is one of the major elements determining sealing performance of the metal seal. Therefore, it is required to precisely simulate the force and deformation for optimizing the design and enhancing performance of the metal O-shaped sealing ring. ANSYS, a finite element analysis software, is used to analyze and evaluate elastic recovery performance of O-shaped sealing ring in the flange sealing structure of the pressure vessel. The result shows that the O-shaped sealing ring has three stages: linear loading, yielding and unloading. The trend of the curve is also in good agreement with the test, which shows that the ANSYS can simulate the process of the rebound well.The study provided a useful references for the design and use of O-shaped sealing ring seals in the compressive stress state.
