Design and Realization of Signal Source for UWB Radar System Based on AD9914

Abstract


As a result of its great bandwidth and distance resolution, UWB Radar has been widely used in the fields of life rescue, geological survey and wall tracking. The design and implementation of the signal source is one of the key technologies of the whole system. In this paper, a design method of radar pulse signal based on programmable logic device (FPGA) and DDS chip is proposed, which is based on the generation technology of signal and the practical application background of UWB radar system. The core of the signal source is ADI's DDS chip AD9914, the control chip is Xilinx's Kintex-7 series FPGA chip. The signal source can generate up to 1GHz high bandwidth multi-channel synchronous radar pulse signal, and the frequency, phase and amplitude are controllable. Compared with the traditional UWB radar signal source design, the design is simple, anti-interference ability, frequency switching time is short, detection ability and can produce large bandwidth pulse signal. Finally, this paper gives the radar pulse signal waveform generated by the signal source.
