Investigation of Deformation and Residual Stress in Fused-coating Additive Manufacturing
Abstract
The deformation and residual stress directly affected the appearance and mechanical properties of components. It is inevitable to produce large deformation and stress in the metal forming process. In this paper, the deformation of fused-coating additive manufacturing was investigated with finite element (FE) simulations. And Goldak's double ellipsoidal heat source model is implemented into the numerical model. The FE model of the deposition layer was developed on the basis of experimental observations. Temperature field distribution of fusedcoating process was firstly calculated and analyzed. These results were then input the thermal elastic-plastic FE models and the deformation and stress could be obtained. The process parameters and constraint conditions were shown to have considerable effect on the deformation and stress.
