An Intelligent Optimization Method for Multi-band Antenna in WBAN Systems
Abstract
A novel intelligent optimization method for multi-band planar antenna design in wireless body area network (WBAN) applications is reported. Instead of conventional trial-and-error methods, this novel method combining a comprehensive learning particle swarm optimizer (CLPSO) and Local Cooperative Search (LoCos), is introduced to search the optimal geometric parameters of the antenna. The simulated results obtained by finite element method (FEM) and the actual measurement results both demonstrate that the optimized antenna obtains better performance in a significantly shorter time than other conventional algorithms. Particularly, the return losses of the implemented antenna at all targeted frequency bands are smaller than -10 dB matching.
