Improvement of Point by Point Comparison Interpolation Algorithm and FPGA Implementation

Abstract


This paper presents an improved algorithm based on point by point comparison algorithm (PBP). Principle of the basic one is analyzed at first, and some improving ideas are described. Then these two algorithms are simulated using Matlab tool. In this paper, Chord error δ is used to measure position error of local points. Ratio of trajectory error β is defined to measure contour error of global points. The velocity of interpolation is measured by its total steps. Finally,the improved algorithm is implemented in FPGA chip. Through quantitative analysis and comparison of the performance between these two algorithms, the results shows it’s stability and real-time performance are improved remarkably.
