Abstract

A kind of amphiphilic derivatives of O’O-lauroyl chitosan (O’O-LCS) with different degrees of substitution (DS), which can form micelles in phosphate buffer saline (PBS), is prepared in this paper. The critical micelle concentration (CMC) of O’O-LCS is detected by the fluorescence method. Acyclovir, as hydrophobic model drug, is encapsulated by the O’O-LCS micelles. Results show that the solubilizing capacity is enhanced by increasing the concentration of O’O-LCS, the structure of acyclovir-loaded O’O-LCS micellar is characterized by TEM and DLS and the sizes of the micelles are bigger after solubilization.
