Microstructure and Mechanical Property of 14Cr-ODS Ferritic Alloy Produced by Spark Plasma Sintering
Abstract
Oxide dispersion strengthened (ODS) ferritic alloys are the leading candidate materials for the advanced fission and fusion reactor due to their excellent radiation tolerance and mechanical properties. These promising performances rely strongly on the high density of nanoscale oxides in ODS alloys. A 14Cr-ODS alloy of Fe-14Cr-2W-0.3Ti-0.3Y2O3 was processed using a combined processing route of mechanical alloy (MA) and spark plasma sintering (SPS). The microstructures of 14Cr-ODS alloy were characterized by using electron backscattered diffraction (EBSD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The results showed that ultrafine grains and high-density nanoscale Y-Ti-O oxides are formed in the 14Cr-ODS alloy. The room temperature tensile strength of 14Cr-ODS alloy is up to 1493 MPa.
