A Comparative Study of Teaching Approach of National Language in China and Japan―A Case Study of Teaching Practice of Hometown
Abstract
National language education is the most important subject in basic education. Through comparative study of Japanese language and Chinese language teaching guidelines or learning guidance proposal, it was found that the method of specific learning guidance changes considerably depending on educational goals. The author was able to clarify the great differences in the unit objectives and teaching methods of Hometown by Lu Xun which is the common teaching material by both Chinese and Japanese middle schools. Through analysis, such differences as homework arrangement, social background introduction, learning styles, the ways of summarizing themes and time allotment, are discussed. Moreover, the similarities like pre-reading texts, text division and group discussion are described as well. In the future, we will make further research on how to evaluate learning, and put forward the effective ways of teaching literary works like Hometown.
