Current Situation, Motivation and Future Development of Running Schools Overseas for Chinese Higher Education Institutions
Abstract
In recent years, more Chinese higher education institutions have expanded their space to other countries and regions, and set up educational institutions or programs abroad. After nearly four decades of development, Chinese universities have already run schools or projects in the world and mainly concentrated in the Asian region. Implementing the two principles of running schools overseas-localization and internationlization, these Chinese universities and colleges combine their own advantages with the characteristics of local environment to promote Chinese education and culture. The main motivations for the promotion of running schools overseas for Chinese universities and colleges lie in the change of international environment, the influence of domestic policy and their own needs of development. With the continuous change of international and domestic environment and the sustainable development of Chinese higher education, Chinese universities and colleges have broad prospects in running schools overseas.
