Comparison of Daiyu’s and Clarissa’s Tragedies

Abstract

This paper compares and contrasts the tragic characters of Daiyu in Dream of Red Mansions and Clarissa in Clarissa, or the History of a Young Lady, analyzes the superficial and underlying causes for their tragedies and demonstrates that culture and society have impact on the individual destiny.
