The Relationship Between Personality and Adjustment of College Freshman: Student-origin as Moderator

Abstract


The sample with 3492 college freshmen was analyzed by Pearson correlation coefficient, multiple regression, and multi-group analysis for investing the relationship between personality and adjustment. Results show the personality factors could explain 40% to 70% of variance of the adjustments, so they are important predictors to the adjustments of freshman. The results also notice that the effects of personality are different between groups including students from urban and students from rural. Student-origin is a moderator on the relationship of personality and adjustment.
