Health Status and Health Management Strategy of Retired Teachers in a University of Wuhan City

Abstract


Objective To investigate the healthy condition of retired teachers in a university, and provide scientific references for health care and health counseling. Methods Based on the data of physical examination of retired teachers in a university of Wuhan city, the situations of Physical Examination of 342 Cases were analyzed with SPSS Software. Results The disease of detection rate was 99.4%. The common diseases in the sequence of the detection rate as follows: kidney disease (75.1%), hypertension (71.1%), fatty liver (57.0%), hyperlipidemia (56.4%), Overweight/obesity (46.2%), coronary heart disease (28.9%), hyperuricemia (25.7%), gallbladder disease (22.8%) and diabetes (13.7%). Conclusions The health status of retired teachers in the university is not in an optimistic condition. The university and retired teachers should pay close attention to health management. To enhance health awareness and level of health, it is suggesting a further related health knowledge education and psychological guidance. Changing the unhealthy life style, strengthening the psychotherapy, developing the healthful exercise and the regular physical examination are helpful to improve health status of retired teachers.
