Study on Ci Poet Mai Menghua in Guangdong

Abstract


Mai Menghua was a Ci poet of Guangdong in the late Qing Dynasty. On the turn from Zhexi Ci School to Changzhou Ci School, he played an important role of opening the air. Mai’s Ci paied attention to the “bi-xingâ€(metaphor) technique, expressed the feelings of concerning about the motherhand and mourning himself, and created a profound and exquisite Ci state. His lingering emotions, beautiful words and implicative expression created the style of “mianliyouweiâ€. The artistic achievement of Mai benefited from the art nutrition of the previous Ci poets, especially Zhou Bangyan, Xin Qiji, Wu Wenying and Wang Yisun in Song Dynasty.
