Analysis on the Times Higher Education World University Rankings and the Performance of Chinese Mainland Universities

Abstract

The Times Higher Education World University Rankings, issued by Times Higher Education annually (hereinafter referred to as “THEâ€), is recognized as the most authoritative and influential global university rankings by the international community because of its more objective criteria. Combing the THE ranking indicators, The paper selects the ranking data of Chinese mainland universities from the year 2013 to the year 2016, analyzes the performance of Chinese mainland universities and put forward advice for Chinese mainland universities strengthening international cooperation, accelerating the “Double-First Class†initiative and enhancing their overall strength and international influence.
