The Relationship between Higher Education and Regional Industries Development in Ningbo

Abstract

Abstract. This study investigated the association between higher education and regional industry in Ningbo through the perspective of discipline setting. For the analysis of this association, this paper used the supply of colleges and the need of industrial cluster as the key indicators. A special method which can show the industry relevance was used for discipline classification from 14 colleges. The findings showed that the association between higher education and regional industry perform not well. More specifically, the quality and quantity of students supply by colleges was insufficient. The results provide valuable implications for Ningbo to improve the development of colleges.
