Effect on the Structural Stability of Minor In Doping into RCo3(R=Nd,Tb)
Abstract
RCo3-xInx (R=Nd,Tb; x=0,0.1,0.2,0.3) have been investigated using powder X-ray diffraction. The analysis of X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns indicates that the main phase of NdCo3-xInx (x=0,0.1,0.2,0.3) is rhombohedral structure NdCo3 with space group of R-3m, and Z=3, and Nd2Co7 with space group of R-3m, NdCo2 with space group of Fd-3m and Nd3Co with space group of Pnma coexist with the main phase as the impurities, however, for the sample with x=0.3 the impurity phase is a rhombohodral structure with Nd2Co7 type. In the other series of TbCo3-xInx, TbCo3 is a single phase rhombohedral structure with space group of R-3m, however, for the other samples of TbCo3-xInx(x=0.1,0.2,0.3), the impurity phase is Tb12Co7 with space group of P21/c.
